Panthers charge Into Bye Week with a 38-0 victory over struggling Giants

Not too many analyst had chosen Carolina to win yesterday over the Giants (0-3), lead alone blow them out 38-0 that they were 1-6 before yesterday! But that is exactly what the Carolina Panthers (1-2) did. This week Cam Newton showed that he is the Franchise quarterback that we have come a custom to watching and loving to see thrive in arguably his best performance of his NFL career. The quarterback yesterday went 15/27, 223 yards, 3 touchdowns, and one interception against the struggling Giants.

The defensive side of the ball was amazing throughout the game! Led by a hungry Greg Hardy they dominated the Giants offensive line, giving Eli Manning little to know time to throw the football which resulted in 3 sacks in the first quarter. Greg Hardy went on a tear with 3 sack of his own. Everybody that played on the line had their chance to shine, even Star Lotuleli and Kawann Short who both had one sack in the blowout victory. The secondary was the main focus of the week since three/fourths of the secondary was out with injuries that occurred last week in the disappointing loss to Buffalo a lot of fans were very worried. But the secondary showed up and played to the best of their abilities. The secondary finished with two interceptions, one by Robert Lester and another by Melvin White.

The offense of the Carolina Panthers is still a work in progress. You can see the improvement in this offense every week. Brandon Lafell had the best game for receivers yesterday with 3 receptions, 53 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Deangelo Williams had a great day as well with 120 yards on 23 carries. Currently in the NFL, D-Will is third in the league with the most rushing yards at 291 yards.

With a bye week in week four there was no way to go out on a better note than to destroy a team in a shutout. With four very winnable games against Arizona, Minnesota, St. Louis, and Tampa Bay as Panthers fans let us all hope our team produce this well every week. If they do there is a good shot looking at week 9 we will be looking at a 5-2 record before we play division rival in Atlanta.
