The Hip-Hop community went into a frenzy when Kendrick Lamar Duckworth’s verse was heard on the new song with Big Sean and Jay Electron called “Control”. If you haven’t heard the song go listen soon and fast forward to about 3:54. Nobody was safe on the song, not even Lindsay Lohan and Miley Cyrus! Big Sean said in his VIBE magazine interview “When I heard (Kendrick Lamar) verse I was ready to go back and change my verse… but that’s cheating”. When Twitter got a hold of the song everybody went crazy with different hash-tags and tweets. You probably are wondering what was so good about the verse. In the words of Ice-T The Compton natives verse “woke up the Hip Hop community”. Kendrick infamous words that are repeated and said over and over were two bars he spit. The first controversial bar was ” Who’s the best MC? Kendrick, Trigga(Jay Z), and Nas. Now you cannot deny Kendrick Lamar is one of the best lyricist in the game as of right now. But then he challenged some of his “friends” in his next controversial bar. He said ” and that goes for Jermaine Cole(GOVERNMENT NAME), BIG K.R.I.T, Wale/ Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake/Big Sean, Jay Electron(THEY ARE ON THE SAME SONG), Tyler, Mac Miller/ I got love for you all but i’m trying to murder you n——. Im tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n—–/ They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you n—–“. These words spread quickly like a rapid fire and everybody couldn’t believe what was said. Some of the tweets sent out after the song dropped Tuesday Morning.
- @Pusha T: I hear u loud and clear my n—–… @kendricklamar
- P Diddy/@IamDiddy: KENDRICK!!!!! Ohhhh Sh————@RevoltTV
- @Missy Elliot:@DaRealMonieLove @Kendricklamar has Forced rap artist to have 2 be Lyrical and have substance again! This was so needed! Thanks Kendrick!
Tweet of the Day went to Mac Miller though.
- @MacMiller: If I can’t do no more nouns or verbs ima start comin with the wildest adjective bars that anyone has ever heard.
Now there were a few responses the last couple of days from B.O.B and Lupe Fiasco. Lupe diss song called SLR 2 said in his song “I ain’t competition, I don’t move sh-t. The only opposition is this new sh-t. Now we all heard what he said, but what he said means we dead. He’s so crazy, look at the little baby. N—a you ain’t Nas, n—a you ain’t Jay Z. You will respect me, you will reject me. But I’ve done so much, no matter how far you go, you will reflect me. Dinosaurs, I’m fine with all kinds of wars. Knives and swords, lions, tigers, biting boars. Lightening striking viking hordes. Fighting heightened, violence soars.” So did B.O.B saying in his song “How To Rap” he says “I know that I’m shinin’, I know that I’m shinin’/Don’t worry, ’cause you can find shade in my shadow” — but also his instrumental he went out and showed his real talent, when he launched into a guitar solo after saying, “Give me my guitar pick, I’ll show you s—.” This is just the beginning. I want to thank Kendrick Lamar for bringing Hip Hop back to where it is suppose to be… about the LYRICS. Not just popping mollies or having sex with women. There is a lot more going on in this world and you never know where Kendrick’s “controversial” lyrics will take the Rap community. BUT WE WILL SOON FIND OUT!!
